Corporation

A corporation is a legal entity that is separate from its owners and is created to conduct business activities. It is owned by shareholders who invest in the company and receive a portion of its profits. Corporations can be found in various industries and can range from small businesses to large multinational companies.

Yorkshire has a rich history of corporations, with many notable companies being founded in the region. For example, the famous confectionery company, Rowntree’s, was established in York in 1862 and later became part of Nestle. Another example is the engineering company, Sheffield Forgemasters, which was founded in Sheffield in 1805 and is still in operation today. These corporations have played a significant role in the economic development of Yorkshire and have contributed to its reputation as a hub for business and innovation.
